Four months ago, Slade Lewis got to fulfill his wildest, long-repressed BDSM fantasies during a one-night stand. Since then, getting more has been the only thing on his mind.
When Slade manages to earn the keys to Reyes Walter’s kinky kingdom, he finds himself face-to-face with none other than Pressly Allwyn, the pearl-bedecked love of his life whom he pushed into divorce six years ago.
Now she’s back, and the fetish he was afraid would drive them apart instead draws them together. They indulge in their common kink together, but past hurts and old insecurities complicate any relationship outside their erotic exploits. Caught between the worlds of hot-button politics and even hotter bedroom games, Pressly and Slade will have to decide how far they’re willing to go for a second chance at happily ever after.
Erin: Politics, ex spouses, and lots and lots of kink make up True North by Tamsen Parker. This is the fourth book in her The Compass erotic romance series. Readers have met Slade Lewis in previous books of this series, and as such, you know he’s been kind of a jerk up until now. I was very intrigued to see if and how Parker redeems our resident bad boy and boy did she deliver. Since this book is told from Slade’s POV, I was doubly interested in seeing things from his viewpoint.
Slade Lewis has loved one woman in his life, ex-wife Pressly Allwyn. Both are in politics, both have the same kink they’ve hidden from the other, both are still in love. This certainly makes for some tension filled moments, especially when the two encounter one another in the kink community. What happens after that is an intense exploration of both their desires, and when coupled with their lingering feelings and deep connection, well you can guess that things get complicated quickly. I liked these two together. I’m not sure how a married couple who seemed to be in so love could hide such an important part of themselves from the other, but their reconnection sure works in True North. Both Slade and Pressly are endearingly vulnerable and dirty.
True North is more than just sex. There are plenty of moments between Slade and Pressly that are tender and sweet. I love second chance romances, and when some kink is mixed with the romance? Well then you sure have yourself a book that will keep you entertained from beginning to end.
