USA TODAY bestselling author Lauren Layne is the “queen of witty dialogue and sexy scenes” (Rachel Van Dyken)! Now, Sex and the City meets The Wedding Planner in The Wedding Belles, her sizzling brand new contemporary romance series about three ambitious wedding planners who can make any bride’s dream come true... but their own.
Discovering her fiance is an international con man just moments before they exchange vows devastates celebrity wedding planner Brooke Baldwin's business—and breaks her heart. Now a pariah in Los Angeles, she seeks a fresh start in New York City and thinks she’s found it with her first bridal client, a sweet—if slightly spoiled—hotel heiress. Then she meets the uptight businessman who’s holding the purse strings.
Seth Tyler wishes he could write a blank check and be done with his sister Maya's fancy-pants wedding. Unfortunately, micromanaging the event is his only chance at proving Maya’s fiance is a liar. Standing directly in his way is the stunning blonde wedding planner whose practiced smiles and sassy comebacks both irritate and arouse him. He needs Brooke’s help. But can he persuade a wedding planner on a comeback mission to unplan a wedding? And more importantly, how will he convince her that the wedding she should be planning... is theirs?
Kassiah: After being left at the altar when her fiancé is taken away in handcuffs by the FBI for running a crazy investment scheme, wedding planner Brooke moves across the country to NYC to join the elite wedding planner firm, The Belles. She lands Maya Tyler as her first client, a sweet hotel heiress who wants plans to marry Neil, a man she recently met. Maya’s enigmatic brother, Seth, doesn’t trust Maya’s fiancé, but doesn’t want to ruin Maya’s dream wedding experience, so he tells Brooke that he wants her to watch out for anything suspicious from Neil and report back to him each week. What they don’t count on is the insane attraction between Seth and Brooke or what will happen when they can’t resist each other any more.
I love Lauren Layne and want to read everything she has ever written. She consistently brings relatable characters I (usually love), fun and sexy storylines, and great banter and authenticity. To Have and to Hold isn’t my favorite book by Layne, but it’s got all of the elements that I’ve come to expect from her.
The storyline for this story was great, and I loved Seth. I totally understood where he was coming from. In fact, that’s the thing I didn’t love about this book–why didn’t everyone else get where he was coming from? I think everyone, especially Brooke would have wanted Seth to do what he did. The other thing I didn’t like was the way Brooke treated Seth. She said some really bitchy things to him. I did love Seth’s relationship with Maya and Grant–and I loved Grant. I really liked Brooke’s relationship with the Belles, too, and seeing a bit of NYC through the eyes of the wedding scene.
I’m really hoping we get a novella or something about Grant and Maya because I love them. And it doesn’t hurt that he’s Rob’s doppleganger.
Fun and sexy, To Have and to Hold is a great choice for romance fans. You’re going to love Seth Tyler and his grand gesture is undoubtedly going to make you swoon.
