You know we ♥ Entangled, so we were thrilled when we were invited to chat with The Surrogate Husband author Wynter Daniels. We’ll get right to her interview, then we’ll share our thoughts on the book with you!
***INTERVIEW***
Thanks for having me! The Surrogate Husband is an opposites attract story, as well as a fake marriage tale, and both tropes were a blast to play with. Lucy is so not the type to get in to a situation where she’d pretend to be married. But her mother told a white lie to a favorite aunt who was dying. Only the woman recovered. And not only does Lucy feel beholden to her mom, but she also owes everything to that sweet elderly aunt who now believes her to be happily married.
I spent most of my research time on Dex because he’s a CPA and I know next to nothing about accountants. He’s also Armenian, so I looked up ethnic foods, names and customs. Also, Dex served in the Marines, and one of his business associates tried to speak to him in military lingo, but always misses the mark. So, I had to research the sayings and catch phrases and such, which was pretty interesting.
One thing that was different was that I brought in a lot more family on Lucy’s end. Since much of the book is set at a destination wedding of sorts, many family members play much bigger parts in this book than any have in my previous books, and that was fun. Strange as it sounds, I came to enjoy spending time with all the relatives!
She’s a smart, take-charge kind of woman with pink hair. Nothing is more important to her than her family, but her lingerie store is a close second. She dates, but as her mom says, she keeps a guy around about as long as a quart of milk. But who can blame her? Her early years were spent with her control freak father.
Dex is sex in a three-piece suit! As an only child, he grew up the center of his parents’ world, and did everything he was supposed to. He’s neat, organized, and plays by the rules. And Lucy is completely outside his frame of reference. All he knows is that she’s the sexiest woman he’s ever met. And she’s his client. Totally off limits.
They might just play a role in Lucy’s younger sister, Niki’s story! After all, Lucy has always been Niki’s protector. She can hardly let Niki face the treacherous world of romance without help.
I’m a total matchmaker in real life, so this question really got me thinking. I’d love for Amy, Lucy’s assistant at the lingerie store to meet Jax Cullen from Jill Shalvis’s Simply Irresistible. Jax is such a cool, laid back guy who isn’t at all what he seems (handyman). Amy isn’t what she seems, either, but that’s for another book š
Grateful, dedicated and warm-blooded!
That I am a big chicken. I’m terrified to fly and haven’t done so in 25 years.
Don’t worry about staying ahead of trends. The industry is changing every day, so there’s no way you can know what the business will look like tomorrow. Just write what feel right for you today.
One character of mine that still makes me swoon, many books later is Harper Long from Sizzle at Sea (Long and Hard series). The man has some serious game!
I was one of 7 authors who wrote a box set of connected stories called Enchanted by an Emerald that traced one magical jewel through time. We have plans to release the Ravishing in Rubies collection next year.
Yes – would you like a movie deal?
It was my pleasure!

To have and to hoax...
Wild child lingerie store owner Lucy Hamilton is a happily confirmed bachelorette. As far as she's concerned, men are something best enjoyed in small doses, never to be allowed too close. Then Lucy's mother tells her Aunt Bev that Lucy has eloped and is marriedāa tiny lie only meant to appease the dying woman...until Aunt Bev miraculously recovers. Now Lucy needs to find a "husband" for an upcoming family wedding, and fast.
Fortunately, Lucy's ridiculously hot, ridiculously straitlaced new accountant Dex Levian is willing to be her stand-in spouse for the weekend. And that's when the trouble really begins. For starters, Dex's "involvement" with a clientāno matter how irresistibleāmight ruin a merger he hopes will make his career. Worse still, the chemistry between Dex and Lucy is more than convincingāit's sizzling. But for Lucy, falling for her fake new husband is the most dangerous thing she can do...
***Our Thoughts***
I’ll just start by saying I love the cover of this book. Even though it was only three stars for me, I would totally buy the paperback copy just to look at this cover. I don’t know why–I just love it. Lucy and Dex had chemistry and were crazy hot together, but there seemed little else between them. I love fake relationships to more stories, but I just didn’t buy this one. It’s a fast read, so you might enjoy it.
