“Let’s make it a double,” he said, and after they chatted more about fish and the sea and the Islands, he pointed to the dartboard. “Since you have that dart certification and all, any chance you can give me a few pointers?” he asked, standing up to grab a dart from the board. He returned and held it out to her. She rose and moved closer, and when she reached for the end, he wrapped a hand around her wrist and tugged her in close.

Just like that. The gauntlet was thrown. The move was made. She was in his arms. Poised. For something more. For this moment to unspool into something else. A ribbon of heat raced through her body as she catalogued everything. His gaze held her hostage. His green eyes blazed darkly as he stared at her like he wanted to eat her up. That fierce look made her shudder. She was so close she could breathe him in, and his skin smelled so damn good. Like sunshine and showers. And he was hard everywhere. Not just there, because she wasn’t exactly in that spot, but his arms, and his abs, and his legs.

His fingers curled around her waist, gripping her as Jack Johnson sang about banana pancakes and pretending it’s the weekend all the time.

“Three things,” he whispered, his voice all rough and hot, turning her on before he even uttered another word. “One, I want to kiss you. Two, I’m going to kiss you. Three, if you don’t want me to, say no now. Otherwise . . .”

Our Thoughts

Kassiah: Lauren Blakely is definitely on my auto-read list, and I was so excited when I found out about her brand new Jewel series. A flailworthy bounty hunter and a sassy heroine, all wrapped up forbidden romance? Yassss!

The Sapphire Affair is truly an adventure (a hot! adventure, mind you) as bounty hunter Jake and beautiful adrenaline junkie Steph traipse through the idyllic setting of the Cayman islands in search of treasure. There’s more than meets the eye to both of these characters and this story, and I was enthralled every moment.

The chemistry between Jake and Steph was off the chain from the very first page. I couldn’t put this book down! This fast-paced story is action-packed and oh so gratifying. I loved the entire idea for this–it’s a refreshing take in a sea of overdone plots. I love everything about it–the characters, the story, the build-up…gah!

Well, maybe I didn’t love everything. It does end in an evil cliffy, but luckily, we only have to wait a month to dive into Sapphire Heist.

Also, this book has one of the hottest dry humping scenes in the history of dry humping. I’m not kidding. Here’s a little tease:

“Climb on top.”

The were far enough away from the bar that they weren’t making a spectacle of themselves, and the dark of the night shielded them the rest of the way. He tugged her on top of him, so she straddled him, her knees pressing into the wood.

“Ride me,” he said in a low voice.”
