Life is good. Cami is away at her dream college with her dream man by her side. She thinks if she can just get through with meeting Hunter’s family that everything will be perfect. Little does she know that life’s about to turn upside down again when Hunter is called to infiltrate a gang whose specialty is chopping and racing cars. His contact happens to be a beautiful curvy girl who is the gang leader’s sister and he has to pose as her boyfriend. Communication with Cami is basically forbidden to help keep his cover.
Hunter, however, can’t stand being away from the girl he really loves, and he sneaks away one night to meet her across town. He doesn’t know the gang leader, Ripper, has suspicions about him already and he’s following him to see where he goes. He surprises Hunter and Cami, and Hunter quickly introduces her as his foster sister who is having some car trouble. He thinks all is well until he discovers he has one serious problem. Ripper likes Cami and decides to pursue her, drawing her into the same dangerous world he’s supposed to bring down.
Can he keep his cover without having Cami get caught in the crossfire? Will the two of them survive having to watch each other fake it in the arms of another? Or will their hot stolen kisses destroy everything?
Sandi: As a sequel to Crush, this was terrific. I didn’t know how Lacey Weatherford was going to continue her “keeping the reader up to finish her book” streak, but she did it in fine fashion.
We’re still with Cami and Dylan, er, Hunter, and she’s in college in Arid-zona (sorry, I still call it that!). He’s in Tucson to be near her while she lives in the dorms. She’s pursuing her academic awesomeness and he’s still a cop and things should be peachy.
He gets called in on another undercover gig and it gets complicated very quickly. Read the blurb. 🙂
The romantic tension between Our Hero and Our Heroine was not the focus, but the development of their relationship was and I enjoyed it a great deal. Dylan is really gaga over Cami and that’s kinda cute even if I sometimes think he’s a little TOO gaga, but the man IS smitten and it shows. And hey, that’s the book’s title, right?
The pair of them do a great job in their respective circumstances and then….
Predictably, things get messed up. In all kinds of ways.
The resolution was NOT expected, but it WAS fun and I was pleased to read how it went. Many kudos to the author.
Regarding UST and SEX and ALL of that – this is at a YA level of description and it works for me. Since Cami and Dylan are an established couple with established boundaries, there isn’t the same speculative obsession in Dylan’s mind about her – though he is clearly still ALL into her and I think that’s great. They’re an adorable couple.
And yeah…I’m on board for book three. And…probably four! Because I saw somewhere that RUSS is getting his own story and I’m eager to see how that works out. 🙂
