Fans of Fifty Shades of Grey, Bared to You, and Release Me will be hooked on Ruined, an electrifying journey of emotional and sexual discovery that pushes two damaged souls to their breaking point—and beyond.
He’s the last man Chloe Girard should love . . . but the first she ever could.
Ethan Frost is a visionary, a genius, every woman’s deepest, darkest fantasy—even mine. And, somehow, I am his.
He stole into my life like a dream. Turned my reality upside down and made my every desire come true—especially those I never knew I had. He demanded everything I had to give and gave me everything of himself in return.
But dreams don’t last forever, and ours is no exception. Because my nightmares are darker, and my wounds deeper, than I could ever reveal. And as much as Ethan wants to protect me, the secrets we we share will only tear us apart.
Kassiah: I love Tracy Wolff and the way she writes. Her guys are always scorching hot and her heroines are usually characters that I root for. I’m not sure if I felt that way about Chloe Girard, though.
Ethan Frost is the CEO of Frost Industries and is the “most eligible bachelor under thirty on the entire West Coast.” Chloe doesn’t start off on the right foot on her very first day interning at Frost Industries when she argues over a smoothie with Ethan Frost himself. Sparks fly between them, and Ethan is instantly intrigued by his new intern.
There’s no company policy against inter-office dating, and Ethan pursues Chloe–no matter how many times she tries to turn him down. She’s been hurt in the past, and I won’t get into what happened to her, but it was traumatic and still affects every relationship she has in her life. Ethan works diligently to break down the walls Chloe has built around herself and convince her to take a chance on them.
“It’s okay. I can wait.”
“Wait for what?”
He smiles at me. “For you, Chloe. I can wait for you.”
There were parts of this book that I loved–like Ethan Frost and the whole storyline–and parts that I hated–like the back and forth between the MCs. They definitely had amazing chemistry, and Wolff without a doubt has a way with words.
My heart beats faster just watching him walk toward me. Not just because of the way he looks, but because of the way he looks at me. Like I’m everything to him, the same way he has so quickly become everything to me.
The problem for me was the flip-floppyness of Chloe. One second she can’t live without Ethan, the next second she’s literally running away from him. It was giving me whiplash, honestly. I also had some confusion involving what happened to Chloe five years ago–she frequently used two different names, and I wasn’t sure if that was an error or not. It wasn’t, but it took me awhile to figure that out.
One more thing–Ethan gives Chloe a belly chain. I don’t know if it was supposed to be like a collar, but the way both of them react to it, it sure seems that way to me. I’m all for a guy giving his girl jewelry, but in this case, anything collar-like doesn’t really make sense. The bedroom (and hallway and kitchen and and and…*fans self*) scenes are very hot, but there’s no BDsm in this book. They’re both possessive, but I don’t think that counts. Of course, I’m no expert on that! It also can’t be that he doesn’t want to give her jewelry that everyone can see because their relationship is totally out in the open. ::shrugs::
Ruined was a super-fast read with a crazy hot hero and a good storyline. The ending does have a major cliffhanger, but luckily you can go ahead and grab the conclusion to the series, Addicted, and find out what happens right away!
