She's his best friend's sister, but he's ready to break all the rules…

Country veterinarian Celia Gamble is in trouble. A misunderstanding from her past is rearing its ugly head and the only person she can turn to is Jonah Clarke—her family’s lawyer and, as it turns out, her brother’s best friend and her childhood crush. She always wanted Jonah to see her as a bona fide woman, but as a woman who’s being blackmailed for seducing a married man? Not on her life.

Jonah is happy to help Little CeeCee Gamble, if only she’d come clean about why she’s being blackmailed. But with his best friend Zach’s wedding on the horizon, and Zach’s fashionista fiancée Desiree giving CeeCee a makeover, the little duckling Jonah remembers is turning into a definite swan. And the unwritten law on sisters is clear—hands off. Jonah must resist or lose the only true family he’s ever known.

Kassiah: Jonah Clarke is a contract lawyer, dead set on not taking on any juvenile cases when a girl brings a dog in need to him. He’s a lawyer, not a vet, so he brings the dog to the new vet in town–Celia Gamble, his deceased best friend’s little sister. Celia’s had a crush on Jonah since they were kids and though she’s run into legal trouble of her own, she isn’t willing to seek any advice from Jonah.

The two try to deny their feelings until they can’t anymore.

“No hiding, honey. It’s time to face this. I want you. You want me. What’s the problem?”

Jonah deals with the guilt of having feelings for his best friend’s little sister.

“You’re not little CeeCee to me anymore.” Jonah’s voice was husky. “And I don’t know what to do with that.”

Celia deals with thinking he’ll never see her as anything other than a kid. All the while, Celia’s got a serious problem that could affect her family’s business as well as her new practice. And Jonah’s the only one she can turn to for help.

What happens when they finally give in to their feelings?

“I’m not made of glass, Jonah. If you kiss me again, I won’t break.”

Though I didn’t particularly love Jonah or Celia–he was too hot and cold, she got a little too bitchy for me–they were authentic, and I was rooting for them to get it together. I liked their banter and their familiarity with each other. I loved the advice that other characters gave them, especially Des.

“It’s about how you feel, confident and happy inside your own skin. Believing that you are fantastic, like you are a treasure, a secret, a present waiting to be unwrapped.”

Give Resisting the Rancher a try if you’re looking for a quick read with fun characters and a cute ending.
