Liv never expected to find herself trapped in an alley facing a band of rough bikers. And she certainly never expected to see him again...

When Shock encounters an old flame in a dark alley, it sends him spiraling. She's still as beautiful as ever, but she seems to have fallen on hard times since college, and he's concerned about the risks she seems to take. In order to keep her safe and finally have her for himself, he makes a sensual deal: his help for her complete submission. But will Liv be able to let go of the past and fall for the hard rider?

Kassiah: Hard Ride #2 picks up right where Hard Ride #1 left off and is slightly less ridiculous than the first installment. Well, maybe it’s more ridiculous.

It’s a toss-up, really.

Again, I’m being spoilery.

We’re still at Shock’s country house and after Shock and Liv get down to business, all of his crew rolls up. There’s romance and questioning of where their relationship is headed and an orgy in the pool. There’s a cliffhanger at the end, of course, but it’s something that I didn’t see coming, so I appreciated that.

What did I like? I actually liked Shock more in this one. He’s got a romantic streak, and even though I thought his feelings were a little fast, thinking back on it, I’m not surprised. He had a thing for her in college, so this isn’t all new to him. I just hate that he likes her.

She is legit batshit crazy. I can’t even wrap my mind around this girl. She throws herself at his friend and basically wants to take part in group sex so she can get used to being without Shock–all while still reeling from what happened to her when she was in college. I know I keep using the word ridiculous, but that’s what she is.

“Oh, it’s so hard. Does it hurt when that happens?”

What is she, 14?

She outright lies to him when Shock asks if she’s developing feelings for him. Thank rob I’ve been with my husband for 18 years, because if this is what “dating” is like now, I’d never survive it. It’s so common in books for both of them to lie about whether they even freaking like each other because they’re afraid of getting cast aside. Guess what? If you lie about having feelings for each other you are guaranteed not to end up together–and your feelings will be hurt. I mean, unless you’re in a romance novel.

“And you don’t want it to be any more than that?”

She gazed at him, keeping her heart in check. “No. Of course not.”

I just can’t stop shaking my head at her.

Also, the trope of running into a bitter ex and comparing sex stories is fucking old. Stop telling it.

Again, I’m reading the last installment in the series because I want to know what happens to them. Call me a glutton for punishment. Hey, maybe Carew will turn it all around in Hard Ride #3 and it will be the best. thing. ever.
