A summer of seduction...
Jules Carmichael needs to get her life together. Pronto. School's been hell, there was that tiny stint in rehab, and worst of all, she's lost her cushy summer job. The only available work is at Office Jax, home of horrid 90s music and the biggest jerk on this side of the galaxy...
Recovering from a brutal break-up and taking a hiatus from college, Ryan DeShane has just discovered the “6 Ultimate Steps to the Perfect Summer Fling.” It's a brilliant distraction, and Jules is a tantalizing target. But the “steps” work a little too well, because he and Jules are definitely, uh, flinging. And it's only a matter of time before Ryan's foolproof plan starts to seriously unravel...
Kassiah: I am so happy that Jules got her own book!
So, Jules is back home, working at a dreaded place. The only upside is her co-worker, Ryan. Ryan’s lost in life and decided to follow the instructions from a magazine article: 6 Ultimate Steps to the Perfect Summer Fling. He tries them out on Jules and they work.
This isn’t going to surprise you, but I really liked Ryan. He was sweet and swoony and sometimes a bit of a jerk. I got where he was coming from.
“I think you’re the most amazing girl I’ve ever met, and that scares the shit out of me because every girl I’ve ever cared about has ripped my heart out.”
Doesn’t that just make you want to hug him? Jules was okay, and I thought she was relatable, too.
Just like with Unethical, the first book in the Drexler University series, I feel like there was so much potential here that wasn’t realized. This is a fast read, but some of the drama was dragged out a bit too much and some aspects were lacking. Overall though, I liked this book, and I really liked Ryan.
The perfect summer romance, be sure to check out Foolproof if you love new adult and swoony guys.
