A When Honey Got Married... Novella
Eve hoped to make one last play for the groom-who-got-away…but instead the down-on-her-romantic-luck actress instead found herself in dark corners with his successful, seductive cousin.
Erin: Anna Cleary’s newest novella, Eve Met Her Match is a very quick read (only 80 pages) and it’s the second book in the When Honey Got Married novella series. In that respect, you should probably read the first book in the series as this books picks up at the rehearsal dinner at the wedding of Honey and Brent, the MC’s of Book 1. I have to say that I like the concept of these novellas, all written by a different author, but all taking place at the same event and featuring different members of the bridal party (and of course the bride herself!) That being said, as much as I love the concept, this book was a bit of a miss for me.
For me, Eve was a hard to take at times. She was WAY too caught up with her unrequited feelings for Brent, the groom, for my tastes. I was a much bigger fan of Rainer, Brent’s brother and the ultimate match for Eve. Once the story moved to the two of them, I found myself enjoying the book a lot more. Unfortunately, it was a little too late to redeem the book entirely, but it did make me want to keep going with book 3. The seamless continuity from book 1 is rather impressive and the writing in this one was strong. It’s too bad Eve wasn’t more likable, but I would recommend reading this just for Rainer.
