His heart was turned off…

Until she turned him on…

Christopher Moore gave up on the idea of love years ago. Now, his life is an endless string of parties and an even longer string of girls. Enjoying the physical perks with none of the emotional mess, he's convinced everyone that he's satisfied—everyone but himself.

Samantha Schultz has moved on with her life. Finishing her student teaching and living with her boyfriend, she's deluded herself into believing she's content. But there is one boy she never forgot—her first love—and she keeps the memory of him locked up tight. She will never allow any man to break her the way Christopher did.

When Christopher's sister and her family move into a new neighborhood, Christopher is completely unprepared to find Samantha living at the end of the street. Memories and unspent desires send them on a collision course of sex, lies, and lust. But when guilt and fear send Samantha running, Christopher will have to fight for what has always been his.

Kassiah: Damn.

That’s my review summed up in one word. Just…damn. A.L. Jackson sure knows how to pack a punch. This book had everything I wanted–swoons and feels and heat and story.

Like the synopsis says, Christopher Moore is kind of a player now. There’s one girl in his past–Samantha–who is the only one who could ever hold his heart. But she’s been long gone for seven years. Now Chris’s sister, Aly, and his best friend, Jared (from Come to Me Quietly and Come to Me Softly), are in love and happy and moved into a new neighborhood. Guess who Chris runs into? Yep, Samantha. And the flame still burns bright.

God, how many times had I imagined this? Seeing him again. What it would feel like, if it’d feel the same or less or more, if I’d burn up with desire or if I’d realize the years had only exaggerated the memories of him, building him up into something he was not. What I never imagined was he would crush me anew.

There’s a lot of stuff going on that I don’t want to spoil, and these two definitely have a past. A tortured, tumultuous past. Despite what’s going on in their lives now, neither of them can resist the pull they have on each other, and when it’s on, it’s on.

All I wanted was to eat her up. Consume her. Make her realize that she was always going to belong with me.

Jared and Aly fans will still melt into a puddle of goo when they read this one. Their histories are totally itertwined with Christopher and Samantha. He’s still super-swoony.

“Don’t be too surprised, Sam. This girl was always meant for me.”

Of course, there were some things that I didn’t like View Spoiler », but when all is said and done, I loved this book. It’s angsty as hell, but it’s also hot and swoony and just…damn.
