Never fall for a rockstar...

Julian Wheaton views the world through a kaleidoscope of synesthesia, seeing the colors of every sound he hears. His life as an iconic rock guitarist was a stressful psychedelic trip that nearly destroyed him. Now he’s abandoned the rock ’n’ roll lifestyle for the peaceful sanctity of his recording studio, but when fiery Cleo Compton comes to work for him, she brings chaos with her.

Cleo Compton has had her flings with rockstars—and it’s left her wary and bruised. Julian may have those sexy bedroom eyes and drool-worthy tattoos, but Cleo is determined to keep things strictly professional—until Julian turns out to be every dream she’s ever chased. When he risks it all to hit the road with a band again, Cleo fears he’ll return as the one thing she can no longer abide—a rockstar.

Kassiah: I love rockstar romances, and this was a somewhat fresh spin on one of my favorite genres.

I loved the musician aspect of this book, and I loved Julian. He suffers from synesthesia and has hung up his touring guitar for quiet days in the studio, helping other bands break out. Cleo comes to work for him, and it’s all sparks all the time. There’s a lot of drama and of course miscommunication issues. I didn’t like Cleo and felt like Julian could do better. Also, everytime I read her name, I kept thinking about Miss Cleo.

The ending was sweet, though. If you’re looking for a fun rockstar romance that isn’t like any others that you’ve read, give Carol Pavliska’s Color Me Crazy a try.

Full of memorable secondary characters, a riveting and fast moving story line, a brief cameo of Nick Rixey (yay!), and a love story that was definitely as swoony as it was steamy, Ride Rough by Laura Kaye was a hell of a ride from beginning to end.
