In an emotionally charged, wickedly hot novel of love and loss, a passionate affair gives two daring storm chasers the strength to overcome shattered dreams and the courage to build a future together.
One year after her fiancé died in a heartbreaking accident, Drew McGovern decides to honor his memory by joining his old storm-chasing buddies on their latest excursion. What she’s not so sure about, however, is whether she’s ready to move on. Drew wasn’t expecting to feel the powerful pull of desire toward Colby’s best friend. But there’s no denying the intensity of their connection . . . or the heat he inspires in the parts of her that are still very much alive.
Aiden O’Neal doesn’t trust himself around Drew. He’s wanted this girl for a long time—long enough to remember the stab of jealousy he felt the first time he saw her in Colby’s arms. Now he’s trying his best to behave himself. But when the wind starts blowing and the adrenaline starts pumping, Aiden can’t resist the urge to claim Drew as his own. Because when it comes to desire, he’s hoping to make lightning strike twice.

***Our Thoughts***
Kassiah: You guise. I don’t know why I keep forgetting how much I love Brenda Rothert’s characters and writing. I love her!
A year after Drew lost her fiancé, Colby, she finds herself drawn to his best friend, Aiden, when she’s invited to go along with Colby’s old storm-chasing group. Even though it’s totally forbidden, Aiden can’t deny his attraction to Drew–or that he’s had a thing for her forever, even when she was with Colby. You know what happens–as they spend time together, sparks fly. Will these two be able to get past the past and be together or will they let their memories of Colby and their guilt keep them apart?
You know how I feel about a player falling in love, and that’s exactly what happens here. While he never showed it, Aiden always had feelings for Drew, and I loved that he didn’t let his perceived responsibilities to his best friend keep him from Drew.
She was my dream. I hated that my best friend’s death was the reason my dream had become a reality, but life was messy and painful sometimes. And when things got messy and painful, I wanted Drew to be there for me, just like I wanted to be there for her. Through storms and calm. Ups and dows. Good times and bad.
I actually liked Drew, which is almost always unheard of for me! She’s sweet and had a lot to go through in life. Drew and Aiden had great chemistry and some crazy hot steam.
“If we’re already sweaty…a little more won’t hurt, will it?”
“Hell no, it won’t.”
I ran my hands up her back and into her hair, kissing her soft and slow for a few seconds before I put one hand on her lower back and pulled her against me.
She moaned a little louder when she felt my hard cock pressing against her.
“You want me, Drew?”
There are some things that happen in this book that sort of made me want to flounce, but I’m glad I didn’t. I just couldn’t stop reading it.
So, yeah. I didn’t love these characters as much as I have loved others from Rothert’s books, but make no mistake: this is a great story with a fast-paced plot, and I can’t wait to read what she comes out with next. If you’re looking for a fresh twist on New Adult romance with characters you’ll root for, be sure to grab Blown Away by Brenda Rothert.
