One night of passion...
Detective Jackson Cantrell never imagined that one night with an irresistible stranger would turn his life upside down. He's spent years living in the shadows, but Dr. Michaela Roarke awakened a passion inside him he'd buried years ago.
He never expected the woman would turn out to be the governor's daughter...and his next assignment. The governor blackmails Jackson to secretly watch over Michaela and protect her from a stalker, or kiss his dream job at the FBI good-bye. Swearing to keep things strictly professional, Jackson moves in with Michaela. Too bad his heart can't keep the same promise.
But when the stalker's attacks quickly escalate beyond mere photographs to bodily harm, Jackson must race to save Michaela's life. And he'll have to figure out how to keep her once she discovers his lie.
Kassiah: A Night of Southern Comfort is the first book I’ve read by Robin Covington, and I liked it. Trying to escape her governor father’s overbearing ways, Michaela goes to a small town in Virginia to open a doctor’s office. While there, she has a one-night stand–no names, just passion. Imagine her surprise a month later when she’s called to her father’s and told she is going to have protection detail in the form of her one-night stand, Jackson. Of course, the chemistry is still there, but if any relationship has ever been strictly forbidden, it’s this one. Will Michaela and Jackson be able to deny the sparks flying between them?
Not likely. I liked this storyline. It was fast-paced and hot. I liked that Michaela wasn’t a whiny brat about what Jackson thought he was able to commit to.
“Kayla.” Jackson gritted his teeth. “I can’t give you any more than this.”
She trailed her hand down to palm his erection, feeling him up with a rough caress. “This is what I want. One night.”
“One night?”
“One night at a time,” she said.
“One night at a time until it’s done. No promises.”
This story was really hot. But some of the hotness was obscured by words I hated. There was also some unnecessary drama, but overall this was a solid story, and I’m looking forward to reading the next one.
