He’s undercover. She’s in over her head.

Yoga instructor Kylie Roberts is the good twin. At least she was—until an accident forces Kylie to step into her twin’s sexy stilettos at a posh Hollywood “men’s club." But nothing could've prepared Kylie for the dead body in the club’s parking lot or the ridiculously hot detective who insists the killer is targeting her regulars.

Detective Trevor McCade needs Kylie’s help to draw out the killer. It means long nights undercover and long dances where Kylie’s body tempts him with sensual promises. Dances that leave them both wanting more. But despite Kylie's hidden identity and the danger lurking in the shadows, it’s only a matter of time before Kylie and Trevor take this undercover operation under the covers…

Kassiah: You guise. You guise. Ya’ll know how much I loved Samanthe Beck’s debut Private Practice and how I flailed all over the place for Tyler. He’s one of my favorite guys, ever.

Guess what? I love Trevor, too! He’s hot. Like meltyouintoapileofgoohot.

After pressing her forearms to the door, he kissed his way down her back, pausing to unhook her bra. She shivered as it sprang open. Kneeling behind her, he sent his hands around to her breasts again and got to work there while his tongue slide over the curve of her spine.

I had to stop there or I would have quoted a lot, and I want you to read this book!!!

Yoga instructor Kylie has to step in for her twin sister, Stacy, when she breaks her leg. Problem is, Stacy’s a stripper, but they need the money to survive. Kylie meets sexy cop Trevor McCade her first night on the job, and sparks fly with their very first private dance. There’s chemistry and mystery when Kylie discovers a dead body outside of the club. Of course, Detective McCade is on the job and is determined to figure out who’s behind the murder, even if it means pushing aside his fledgling feelings for Kylie to find out what she’s hiding.

I just want to throw in my two cents about how much I loved these characters. You know how you’ll read something and the MC is all whiny about how “he can’t really want me” and “I’m not good enough” and just ugh. That doesn’t happen here.

Had they met at a different time, under different circumstances, who knows what they might have meant to each other? But they’d met over lies and murder. The combination doomed their chances for something else. Trevor upheld the lay. He wasn’t the kind of man who would appreciate being deceived.

Sure, Kylie gets upset when she realizes that she could have real feelings for Trevor, but the girl he thinks he’s falling for isn’t her–she’s the complete opposite of her sister. I loved that her reactions and the way she felt about everything was authentic. She was vulnerable for a reason, not because the author needed a plot device. Yay for that.

There were a couple of things that I didn’t love, mainly the use of the word “moist” and some technical terms, but overall, I loved this book.

And can I just stop for a second and tell you how happy I am that we got a glimpse of the future at the end of this book? So often, the conflict is resolved and then bam! the end. Not here. Beck didn’t go on and on, but she did give us enough of a glimpse to be *ahem* satisfied with their futures. Also–the ending? Perfect! I loved it so much! For the awesome characters, the fun storyline, and the steamy steaminess, I seriously cannot wait to read more from this author, and I’m so glad that we’ll get to see more of these characters in the future.

We’ve got author Samanthe Beck here with us today to share an excerpt!

Hi Kassiah and thanks for having me back at [Steamy Guys] to talk about my newest Brazen, Lover Undercover! My books are my babies and I could go on…and on…and on… about them, but I thought for this post maybe I should try to edit myself a bit and simply tease y’all with one of my favorite scenes from the story. 🙂

To set it up properly, my heroine, yoga instructor Kylie Roberts, is posing as her identical twin Stacy and, (reluctantly), dancing Stacy’s shift at Deuces, the Hollywood strip joint…er…gentlemen’s club where Stacy works as a featured dancer. It’s Kylie’s first time stripping, first time on the pole, first…gulp…lap dance. Little does she know she’s about to bestow it on hot homicide cop, Trevor McCade, who’s doing some undercover work of his own!

Kyle reached around and grabbed the back of his chair. In the process, her fingers accidentally ruffled thick, cashmere-soft hair, and she fought an urge to sink her hand into its mink-toned depths. Not good. “Ready?” she asked, still avoiding his eyes.

“Ready as I’ll ever be.”

Funny, she felt the same way. A tremble wanted to work its way up her spine when the DJ queued the music. She suppressed it and moved into position, straddling his lap. Her boots brushed against hard, muscular thighs. She dipped her hips toward the fly of his black pants, and leaned in until her bikini-straining breasts almost touched his chest.

His indrawn breath made her think he was checking out the view, but when she glanced at him, their gazes collided. She immediately dropped her eyes to his chest and concentrated on her moves.

A few moments into the proceedings, his husky voice endangered her focus. “Come here often?”

“Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, from ten ’til two.”

“Busy girl.”

“You have no idea. Heads-up, handsome.”

“Trevor.”

“Sorry?”

“My name is Trevor.”

Alrighty, then. She braced her weight on one leg, swung the other over his head, then straddled his lap again, this time facing away from him. Hips low, she arched her back and insinuated her body over his in time to the music.

From the corner of her eye, she watched his attention drift to her butt, then scorch a trail of heat along her spine, across her shoulders, and surprisingly, to her face.

“Very limber.”

“Glad you’re enjoying the show, Trevor.”

“Absolutely. In fact, you need to lift up a little or…ah…”

Too late. She felt some of the “incidental contact” Stacy had warned of, and jerked away, almost losing her balance in the process. To cover the flub, she untied the bow at the back of her bikini, spun around, and flashed him. She settled above his lap again, giving him even more room this time, and crossed her arms over her breasts. Her eyes sought his.

“Nice save,” was all he said, but those intense eyes seemed to see right into her mind.
