Kali Miller has spent three years reporting fluff stories, waiting for the article that will launch her career to new heights. When she suddenly finds herself forced to take a job as an executive secretary at a Vegas casino, Kali meets the subject of what will surely be a shocking exposé: her boss, Damion Ward, the arrogant and undeniably sexy CEO. But after Damion invites her to help him plan a Thanksgiving charity event, Kali begins to see another side of the man. And when she surrenders to the exhilarating tension simmering between them, Kali hopes her story will have a happy ending.
Kassiah: This is the first thing that I’ve read by Lisa Renée Jones, but I promise I’m reading everything she’s ever written as soon as possible. I loved this novella and am impressed with how much she was able to make me feel for these characters in such a short read.
Kali Miller’s dream is to be a reporter but due to a lack of reporting positions open, she ends up as executive secretary to hot CEO Damion Ward. Even though their chemistry is through the roof, they’re both determined not to give in to temptation. Kali doesn’t want to be just another notch in Damion’s belt and both of them don’t want to get involved in a relationship with someone they work with.
“Do you find me intimidating, Ms. Miller?”
I consider that objectively. “No. You don’t intimidate me.” My attraction to him does, and so does the idea of losing this job, but he doesn’t.
His brow arches. “You’re sure about that?”
Amid all their attraction, there is something suspicious going on with the company funds, not to mention some drama involving Kali’s ex turning up. Despite all their differences and all the reasons they shouldn’t, Kali and Damion can’t seem to stay away from each other.
“Either come with me,” Damion warns tightly, “or I’ll pick you up and carry you.”
Play with Me is the perfect holiday read and will be a great break from the Thanksgiving chaos for you. There’s drama right up until the very end, and I only wish it had been longer! Definitely check this story out.
I would recommend this book even if this were the only story in it–but luckily you get two more amazing tales to Heat Up your Holidays!
